Wedding Day

Friday Night Gathering

Mary Lou Doerrie and Steve Hardy would like to invite guests to socialize with us for a few hours before the big day. Due to the possibility of inclement weather, the gathering location has moved indoors to the Sequim Quality Inn at 5pm. Gourmet pizza, wings, salad, and soda will be served from 5pm to 7pm.

R.S.V.P.

We are using an electronic R.S.V.P. form this year. If you have received an invitation email, please fill out our R.S.V.P. form . You must complete the R.S.V.P. process by April 2 to attend.

Although the R.S.V.P. form collects email addresses, it does not require a Google account. Google placed the explanation “* Required” for required questions below a sign-in option for saving partial progress, but the features are unrelated.

Virtual Attendance

If you are unable to attend, please know that we are planning provide virtual access to the ceremony. We are still exploring options for this. The most likely, least error-prone solution will be a delayed video viewing. Details will be available on our Virtual Attendance Page.

Wedding Wishes Quilt

Sabina has designed a quilt to commemorate our wedding and would love for family and friends to contribute by signing a square. As many guests will attend virtually, there will be an option in the R.S.V.P. to have us mail you a square to sign; we will include a pen, the instructions, and a postage-paid return envelope. You can see the design and story on our Wedding Wishes Quilt page.

COVID-19 Requirements

To create a safe environment for everyone attending, we will be enforcing safe COVID-19 practices at our wedding. These requirements may change in response to the current state of the pandemic, so we are also listing both current and potential requirements. There will be no exceptions for any reason. If you are unable to follow any of these requirements, you can show your support by attending virtually.

All guests must:

  • Send proof of COVID-19 vaccination and booster prior to the wedding by Email or postal service.
  • Be free of any COVID-19 symptoms on the day of our wedding.
  • Wear a CDC approved, properly fitted mask at all times, except when eating or drinking.

We reserve the right to require guests to:

  • Provide a negative SARS-CoV-2 test result no more than three days before the event.

Travel

We’ve broken our travel recommendations down by locality starting with getting to Washington State and then to Clallam County.

To Washington State

The best options are to fly into Seattle-Tacoma International Airport or drive. Amtrack is the best option for rail, though we recommend planning for extra travel time if you choose this route.

To Clallam County

Rental Vehicles

Sequim is about a 4 hour drive from the Airport. Rental vehicles are still expensive due to low vehicle inventory caused in response to the 2020 pandemic travel restrictions. Rentals from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport were about $50 per day (+ taxes & fees) when checked in February. This is more viable than a few months ago, but can still get expensive.

If you are looking for an alternative to a 4 hour drive, the Bainbridge Island Ferry is a fun alternative that gives you a view of Seattle via Elliott Bay and the Puget Sound. Fares are $16.80 one-way for a vehicle & driver, passenger tickets departing Seattle are under $10 and are free departing Bainbridge Island. Traffic is handled in order of arrival, so you may be waiting for the next ferry.

Airport Shuttle

Private airport shuttles are available through:

  • Dungeness Line (~ $75.00 round-trip) - Private bus/shuttle; runs twice daily.
    • Stops at the 7th at JC Penny’s Bus Stop in Sequim. Check with your hotel to see if they can provide a ride from this location.
    • The booking process lists average prices, which was misleading and caused me to overestimate costs. Finish getting an itinerary quote before making a decision.
  • Rocket Transportation (< $127.00 round-trip) - Door-to-door shared shuttle service, by appointment only.

Public Transit

Public transit is the least expensive option available, under $37.00 round-trip per person, but it requires more planning. Choose your starting point from the airport or King Street Station. Both will eventually converge at the Bainbridge Island Ferry. Links are provided to transit services, their schedules, and current prices.

This will only get you to the Sequim Transit Center . Check with your hotel to see if they can provide a ride from this location.

From Seattle-Tacoma International Airport
From King Street Station

This is where you will arrive in Seattle if you took Amtrack .

From Bainbridge Island Ferry

Please note that The Straight Shot Shuttle only runs three (3) times on weekdays and Saturday, and only twice (2) on Sunday. If you plan to take public transit, this is the weakest link. Your flight needs to land at least 4 hours before the last shuttle departure for this to even be possible in a single day. Likewise, your train needs to arrive at least 3 hours before the last shuttle departure. Consider a red-eye flight or an overnight stay in Seattle.

Hotels

Clallam Bed and Breakfasts

There are a number of bed and breakfast resorts scattered between Sequim and Port Angeles. These probably offer the most idyllic experience with picturesque scenery. We will keep updating this list as we find recommendations.

Sequim Hotels

The recommended hotels in Sequim are:

Port Angeles Hotels

Our wedding venue is between Sequim and Port Angeles. As a larger town, Port Angeles has many more hotels than Sequim. In Port Angeles, the Red Lion Hotel, Port Angeles Inn, Quality Inn Uptown, and Uptown Inn are all within walking distance of the Gateway Transit Center.

Things To Do

Attractions

We have a list of sights and attractions on our Sequim Page.

Our Availability

Although we are planning to spend the entire month of May traveling, we expect the only time we will have for socializing will be the week following the wedding.

We expect to arrive in Sequim on May 3rd or 4th and depart May 25th or 26th. Both of us plan to telecommute for the remainder of the first and last weeks of May while we are not traveling. The week ahead of the wedding is reserved for coordination and any last-minute issues that crop up. That leaves the week after the wedding for socialization.

Registry

Many of our guests are not local to the west coast, which makes this a bit of a destination wedding. The best gift that you can give us is to come spend the day with us in the pacific northwest or join us virtually on zoom. We understand that this is not everyone’s idea of a wedding gift, so we also have an Amazon Wedding Registry .
